Safe by design

Piercing done the right way.

A piercing is a small wound. How well it heals depends almost entirely on technique and hygiene. At Tiger Skin Tattoos, we use single-use, sterile needles for every piercing. Not guns, which cause blunt-force trauma to tissue.

Every piece of equipment that touches you is either single-use or autoclaved. We work in the same hygienic environment as our tattoo clients. Clean, professional, appointment-only.

We give you clear aftercare instructions before you leave, what to clean with, how often, what to avoid. Healing a piercing well is 80% aftercare, and we make sure you know exactly what to do.

Single-use needles only

Every piercing uses a fresh, sterile, single-use needle. Never a gun. Less trauma, cleaner faster heal.

Professional jewellery

Implant-grade titanium and surgical steel, using materials that minimise reaction risk and are designed for safe healing.

Full aftercare guidance

Common questions

Piercing FAQs.

A quick, sharp sensation, most describe it as 2–3 out of 10. Cartilage has more pressure than a lobe but the needle pass takes a fraction of a second. Using a needle rather than a gun means less tissue trauma.

Earlobe: 6–8 weeks. Cartilage: 3–6 months initial, up to a year full healing. Nostril: 2–4 months. Aftercare consistency matters most.

18 years and above. Valid ID required at the time of your appointment.

We recommend our implant-grade titanium or surgical steel for initial piercings. Once healed, you're free to switch to anything you like.

Piercing Aftercare

A new piercing is a small wound, and it heals best when you keep it clean and otherwise leave it alone. The good news is that piercing aftercare is meant to be simple, not a whole routine. Here is exactly how we recommend caring for yours, and if anything ever looks or feels off, just message us and we will help.

Clean hands, every time

Before you touch your piercing for any reason, wash your hands well. Most piercing problems come from dirty hands rather than from the piercing itself, so this one habit makes the biggest difference.

Our main method: the spray

The simplest and safest way to care for your piercing is a saline aftercare spray, and this is what we recommend for most people. We suggest the MOKO piercing spray. Spray it directly over the piercing, front and back, two to three times a day, and let it air dry on its own. That is genuinely it. No scrubbing and no fuss. A gentle saline spray keeps the area clean and lets your body get on with healing.

The salt water alternative

If you do not have the spray handy, you can make a mild salt rinse at home. Add a small pinch of rock salt to a cup of clean, lukewarm water and stir until it fully dissolves. It should taste barely salty, not strong. Dip a clean Q-tip or earbud and gently wipe away any crust that gathers around the openings of the piercing. Keep it gentle, do not poke into the piercing itself, and do not do this more than once a day. A solution that is too salty or used too often will dry the skin and actually slow healing, so weak and occasional is the rule.

Leave the jewellery alone

As tempting as it is, do not twist, spin or play with your jewellery. It does not need to be rotated, and moving it only irritates a fresh piercing. Leave the original jewellery in for the full healing time. Changing or removing it too early can cause the piercing to shrink, close, or become irritated.

Everyday care

Keep makeup, lotions, perfumes and hair products away from the piercing. Avoid swimming pools, the sea, and long soaks in the bath while it heals. Be gentle with clothing, towels, hair, phones and earphones that can snag or press on it. For ear piercings, try not to sleep directly on the side that is still healing.

What is normal

In the first days and weeks, a little redness, mild swelling, tenderness, and a whitish-yellow crust around the jewellery are all normal parts of healing. Earlobe piercings usually settle in around six to eight weeks, while cartilage piercings take longer, often a few months. Remember that a piercing can feel healed on the outside while the inside is still fragile, so keep up your care for the full time even once it feels fine.

If you get a bump

Small bumps are common, and they almost always come from some kind of irritation rather than infection. A knock, friction, sleeping on it, catching it, or changing the jewellery too soon. Keep up your saline spray, be gentle with it, and remove whatever is aggravating the area. If a bump appears or will not settle, message us or come in and we will take a proper look and guide you on the best next step. Please do not apply random creams or ointments to it without checking with us first, as the wrong product can make a simple bump worse.

When to see a doctor

If you notice spreading redness, strong or increasing pain, heat, thick or green discharge, or fever, these can be signs of infection and should be checked by a doctor promptly. When in doubt, reach out to us and we will help you work out the right next step.

We are always here

Every body heals a little differently, so if you are ever unsure about anything, just message us. Look after it well and your piercing from Tiger Skin Tattoos in Thane will settle beautifully.
